School Opening 2020-2021
Jacksonville City Schools (JCS) is working closely with the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) and the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) to determine the safest and best way to open school. Please take a few moments to answer the following questions to help our preparation. You may add information for up to four students in your home. If you have more than four students, please complete an additional form. Please complete this questionnaire before 9 PM on Sunday, June 14. We value your input.
There are 3 teaching and learning models for which JCS is prepared to implement this school year: traditional, virtual, and blended. Parents/guardians may choose either traditional or virtual for their child(ren). The blended option will be implemented if/when necessary by JCS. The TRADITIONAL model requires students to attend class daily for teacher-led face-to-face instruction. Adherence to all social distancing guidelines for schools per the ADPH will be followed. The VIRTUAL model is available to parents/guardians who prefer their child(ren) to stay home due to concerns related to COVID-19. The virtual model is fully online and provides non-traditional instruction in which the student is provided course content that meets the state standards. The student is expected to master the standards as required in the traditional model. At this time, which model would you choose for your child? *
If there is an increasing number of daily cases or concerns for a potential surge in COVID-19 once school opens, JCS may move to a BLENDED model. This model is a combination of a face-to-face and an online learning environment. To help us prepare for instances of BLENDED learning and VIRTUAL learning, please answer the following questions: What form of Internet connectivity is in your home? (check all that apply) *
What type of device(s) does your child have consistent access to in your home? (check all that apply) *
In the event that JCS must use a BLENDED learning model, please list any issues you believe may affect your child's continuing education. *
Is there anything else you would like us to consider as we make decisions for the 2020 - 2021 school year? *
