White Anti-Racism Coaches: Study and Practice Group
The work of dismantling white supremacy is the work of this time. We see how necessary it is, time and again, as white supremacist violence harm and kill Black bodies and bodies of people of color. We know this work is the work of white bodies – and as white coaches, we know that coaching is a powerful tool that we can use to undo the white supremacist conditioning of our clients (and ourselves).
There are no perfect models of how to do this work, and we are all experimenting and figuring it out as we go. While white supremacy culture teaches us to look for The One and Only Right Way to Do It – we know that our approach must be one of holding the space that the moment requires, being iterative, being spontaneous, but also being accountable. The purpose of this group is for (1) me to share with you what I’m experimenting with and trying, what’s working and what’s not, and what I’m learning, and (2) for you to share with each other (and me) what you’re trying, what’s working, what you are learning.
This group is for: white coaches who are doing coaching towards dismantling white supremacy, whether that is your main coaching focus, or an aspect of another focus. I’m hoping that you are a certified coach (or the equivalent) and have a solid working knowledge about white supremacy and are engaged in your own anti-racism work. If you have a question about whether that is true enough of you and you have interest in participating, feel free to reach out to discuss.
The questions below are for planning purposes for the group. Please answer all of the required questions and any of the additional questions that apply to you. And, please reach out if you have other questions.
Thanks,
Claire
