It takes all of us to impact change and make a difference in addressing food, housing, financial and transportation insecurities for Oakland's most vulnerable populations. We appreciate and rely on the volunteer support offered by community members, families, schools, religious institutions, corporations and more! Below are the focus areas you can support:

Health and safety concerns are a high priority and concern for our staff, volunteers and the vulnerable communities we serve. For in person volunteer opportunities, masks are required to be worn. All volunteers must be scheduled and confirmed.

Below are brief descriptions of our focus areas, programs and the respective volunteer opportunities within each. Based on your selections, you will be contacted by EOC staff when volunteer opportunities arise.

Food & Supply Distribution addresses the deepened disparities and widened food insecurity of East Oakland communities, a historic food desert. EOC distributes groceries, healthy + hot meals, hygiene and household supplies each week through our client choice market and deliveries to seniors and differently abled.
Homeless Services & Solutions provides direct resources, advocacy, organizing and policy efforts to bring critical resources to Oakland’s most vulnerable residents, our unhoused neighbors. Feed the Hood is a large scale quarterly volunteer program that provides community members with opportunities to meet immediate needs of unhoused populations across Oakland through the distribution of food and essential supplies.
Economic Empowerment works to increase Black resident knowledge and unity around collective and/or cooperative economic opportunities.
