RSVP for Building a Movement-Centered Campaign (1st half) and The Fundamentals of Fundraising (2nd half): Sunday, Sept. 19, from 2:00-4:30 pm
About this training: For the first hour, join WV Can't Wait Founder Stephen Smith to learn how to build a movement-centered campaign that creates lasting political infrastructure. In the second hour, join District Attorney Deborah Gonzalez to learn the fundamentals of fundraising. You will learn who to ask, when, and how; the most efficient forms of fundraising; the best tactics for emails, calls, and events; and also how to create a campaign budget.
Stephen Smith is the Founder and Co-Chair of WV Can’t Wait. During the 2020 election cycle, WV Can’t Wait built a slate of over 90 candidates, created 54 county teams, and organized nearly 40 constituency teams representing seniors, educators, veterans, the LGBTQ+ community, and so many more during Stephen’s run for Governor. The movement organized nearly 200 town halls and through conversations with 11,000 of their neighbors created a true People’s Platform called the “New Deal for WV”. This platform includes Broadband for All, Prosecuting Corruption, Fixing our Roads, Full Cannabis Legalization, Cutting Healthcare Cost, a Workers Bill of Rights, and a Mountaineer Service Corps jobs program.
Deborah Gonzalez is the District Attorney for the Western Judicial Circuit, which covers Clarke and Oconee counties. A former Georgia State House Representative for District #117, Deborah beat Governor Kemp in court 5 times -- fundraising over $100,000 in legal fees alone -- just to win the right for the people of Clarke and Oconee to choose their own District Attorney. A master fundraiser, Deborah is also the Founder of Bluebird PAC, a grassroots political action committee which provides resources and training for non-traditional candidates, and both The Justice Warriors PAC and the Justice Action Fund, which seeks to advance justice and transform the criminal legal system.
