My name is Carisa Elam, and I am excited to welcome you and your student to Morgan County Middle School! I am the director of choirs here at MCMS.
Chorus is a wonderful way for your student to get involved, meet new friends, and make great music! Participating in the fine arts will give your student an opportunity to develop valuable interpersonal and leadership skills they will use for the rest of their lives. Chorus is a year-long class, and students will have different connections during the course of the year. Our program prides itself on the fact that we perform a variety of quality choral literature ranging from classical to rock n’ roll. Because chorus is a class during the school day, students can easily participate in extra-curricular activities with very little to no conflict. This year, my chorus members were involved in a wide range of activities and sports including basketball, volleyball, softball, football, FFA, FBLA, equestrian programs, track and field, etc.
Our students learn to read music, participate in GMEA activities such as All-State Choir and GMEA Choral Festival, and perform in Madison and across the state. If your student is interested in joining chorus, you can sign them up using this form! There is no audition, and all ability levels are welcome!
