What is your name? *
Go to the SCC Library homepage and find the OneSearch box and  do a search for your topic using the same settings shown below.
How many total results do you get with these search terms? *
Refine the results on the left by limiting to "Books & Videos on Library Shelves." *
How many of the results are books owned by SCC?  Don't forget if you find a useful book, email the citation information to yourself so you can just copy and paste it into your Works Cited list.  Then copy down the location and call number if it is at SCC and go get the book off the shelf and check it out.  If the book is at ARC, CRC or FLC see next question.
What would you do if you wanted a book that is only available at ARC, CRC, or FLC? *
Back on your Search Results page, deselect "Books & Videos on Library Shelves" and then select "Scholarly (Peer-Reviewed) Journals." *
How many of the results are from Academic Journals? Hint - look at the Source Type in the Limits on the left.
Now add a few more keywords to your search strategy to focus the results.  Tell me about what kind of articles you found.  How many useful ones did you email to yourself? *
What refining options are available on the left side of the screen? *
