GORP — Individual Submission
Playtime is part GORP, a bi-monthly show on the second and fourth Wednesday at Kickstand Comedy that was created to provide a safe, supportive, positive experience for all players but especially for those who are newer to improv. Playtime features various show formats that seeks to pair newer improvisers with experienced players to create magic moments of fun.
March 11: This is a brand new format to GORP and I'm looking for some brave souls to give it a go with me. Title TBD but it is based on the relationship interviews from the movie When Harry Met Sally. Newer improvisers will be paired with experienced players, each pair will do a ~ 2 minute "documentary style" scene, then each pair will do a 5 minute scene based on their 2 minute scene and then we will end with a montage where all stories, characters and premises are pulled from everyone's work. Plus other super fun things in store.
April 8: So You Think You Can 'Prov (SYTYC'P). SYTYC'P pairs new or beginner improvisers with experienced ones to perform in a 5-8 minute duo. The event mimics as closely as possibly So You Think You Can Dance, including a host and special guest judges. The team voted as the audiences favorite will return the following month to perform a regular length set at GORP (15-17 minutes). If you are newer to improv and looking to play with someone with a lot of experience — sign up, this is a chance to get on stage with some of Portland's best players!
May 13: TBD
June 10: TBD
