Portsmouth City of Sanctuary - Spaces of Sanctuary -"SoS"
Portsmouth is a city proud to offer sanctuary to anyone fleeing violence and persecution or who is isolated and seeking safety. With dignity and compassion, we welcome all people seeking sanctuary, and we are committed to building workstreams of action to offer support accordingly.

Portsmouth groups and citizens have come together to form a City of Sanctuary, sharing a vision to confidently demonstrate inclusiveness, openness and participation. The group formally launched in June 2019 and is now a registered charity (number 1192913) needing your support. PCoS is part of the national non-political/religious City of Sanctuary movement, has full Portsmouth City Council endorsement and the support of around 120 local organisations.

This survey is designed to be an introduction to the idea of Spaces of Sanctuary - ''SoS''. SoS is an initiative that holds at its core the idea of feeling and being "safe", recognising that asking for help often takes courage. It combines the concepts of both safe and brave spaces, hopes to foster real inclusion in the City, and aims to be rolled out across as many establishments as possible once we are ready.

To create such spaces in Portsmouth we need to understand what it means to feel and be safe, no matter who you are. The survey should take you around 10 minutes and the responses are anonymous. There is space at the end of the survey for you to leave your contact details, should you wish to take part in developing the SoS initiative further with Portsmouth City of Sanctuary (https://portsmouth.cityofsanctuary.org).
