Current Volunteer Opportunities
Read below for our current weekly and monthly volunteer needs. Check the box next to any of the volunteer opportunities in which you are interested. Please indicate your preference for days and times as well where applicable.
Senior Meal Prep Volunteers
Description:
For all the cooks! Help prepare lunch for Senior Meals. Meals are prepared in the HIP kitchen and then taken to the Lake City Community Center to be served. Bring your kitchen skills or come to learn new ones. All levels of cooks welcome.

Age/Requirements:
Volunteers 14 or older must have a current Food Worker Card (available online at www.foodworkercard.wa.gov for $10). Volunteers under 14 must have an adult with them.

Time commitment/location:
3 hours per shift, HIP is located at 3841 NE 123rd St, Seattle, WA 98125.

Meal Prep Times
Senior Meal Site Volunteers
Description:
Senior Meals lunch is served at Lake City Community Center. The food is made piping hot at the HIP kitchen then delivered to LCCC. Volunteers for this program may be responsible for helping with meal set up, service, and clean up as well as creating a welcoming environment for our guests.

Age/Requirements:
All ages welcome, volunteers are encouraged but not required to have a current Food Worker Card (available online at www.foodworkercard.wa.gov for $10). HIP performs Washington State Patrol Background Checks on all meal site volunteers.

Time Commitment/Location:
3 hours per shift, Lake City Community Center is located at 12531 28th Ave NE Seattle, WA 98125

Senior Meal Volunteer
Cooking Class Assistants
Description:
Our nutrition education program is growing, and we are looking for volunteers who are interested in volunteering for 6-week cooking classes and there are also opportunities to help with singular individual events as well. Check with us for exact times.

Age/Requirements:
All ages welcome. Volunteers are encouraged but not required to have a current Food Worker Card (available online at www.foodworkercard.wa.gov for $10). HIP performs Washington State Patrol Background Checks on all Cooking Class Assistants.

Time Commitment/Location:
3 hour commitment per class, site varies (within NE Seattle)

Cooking Class Assistants
Summer Eats Site Servers
Description:
Do you enjoy interacting with children and youth? We are looking for folks who would be willing to volunteer weekdays this summer for our Summer Eats program. We need help serving meals to hundreds of kids every day! Volunteers would help set up the site, serve meals, and clean up.

Age/Requirements
All ages welcome. Volunteers 14 and older are required to have a current Food Worker Card (available online at www.foodworkercard.wa.gov for $10). Volunteers 14 or younger must be accompanied by an adult. HIP performs Washington State Patrol Background Checks on all volunteers. Volunteers must also attend a Summer Eats Orientation.

Time Commitment/Location:
2 hours per shift, Several different meal sites throughout NE Seattle and Shoreline.

Summer Eats Activities Volunteers
Description:
Do you enjoy interacting with children and youth? We are looking for folks who would be willing to volunteer weekdays this summer for our Summer Eats programs. Being an activity volunteer might include running a gardening class or co-leading an art class at a site. Let us know if there is a specific class you would love to lead!

Age/Requirements
All ages welcome. HIP performs Washington State Patrol Background Checks on all volunteers. Volunteers must also attend a Summer Eats Orientation.

Time Commitment/Location:
2 hours per shift. Several different meal sites throughout NE Seattle and Shoreline.

Summer Eats Activities Volunteers (1:00-3:00 pm approximately)
Summer Eats Training
As part of our volunteer experience with summer we need all individuals volunteering to attend at least one of the below training's. Please pick whichever works for you, if you need to change in the future that is alright as well. HIP will contact you and set up an individual time and date if you choose the last option.

Hold Harmless & Confidentiality Statements *
I desire to participate in volunteer programs, events or activities operated or sponsored by Hunger intervention Program (HIP). I have investigated the risks involved in my participation and fully understand and assume such risks. Specifically, I understand and acknowledge that I may suffer or experience, among other things, personal injury or bodily damage, mental anguish, or loss, damage or theft of personal property. I hereby agree to release and forever discharge Hunger Intervention Program, its officers and directors, its employees, agents and any parties volunteering on behalf of Hunger Intervention Program from expenses of any kind growing out of or related to any such activities in which I participate. I understand that this is a full and complete release for all liability, cost, injuries, and damages that I may sustain as a result of my participation in any volunteer activities, regardless of the specific cause thereof. I have been made aware of resources to which I can turn to answer my questions or address any concerns that I may have about volunteering. I have exercised my right to access these resources to address those questions/concerns prior to signing this document and am making a voluntary, informed decision to accept the terms of the agreement. Furthermore, I agree to not divulge, publish, photograph or otherwise make known to unauthorized persons, any information regarding clients of Hunger Intervention Program (HIP) at any of its service locations or locations of its program partners. I understand that my obligations to protect client confidentiality continue after termination of my volunteer duties with HIP. This agreement is binding upon my heirs, successors, and personal representatives.

I hereby consent to the photographing of myself for Hunger Intervention Program’s use as still photographs, videotape, television presentations, and/or for any purposes necessary to the agency, waiving all claims for compensation. I also hereby consent to the use of my name and biographical data to be used as indicated above. Further, I hereby release Hunger Intervention Program, its directors, officers, employees, and/or assignees from any and all claims for damages, libel, slander, invasion of the right of privacy, or any other claims based on the use of said material.
