The Khmer Alumni Association Mentorship Program (KAAMP) pairs high school and college students with a mentor from January to June 2017. Throughout this six-month program, mentoring will be provided through online meetings at least once a month to discuss any questions, comments, or concerns regarding academics, career choices, or any life decisions.
The purpose of KAAMP is to provide one-on-one guidance and support for Cambodian students. By doing so, the Khmer Alumni Association aims to promote enriching knowledge, professional development and meaningful experiences through relationships that will help empower Cambodian students to work successfully towards their academic, professional and personal goals.
Mentors are members of the Khmer Alumni Association who have graduated from college and have years of professional experience. They possess a strong desire to support the youth and have been screened and trained within our program. Mentees are students who have filled out an application, which includes a parent/guardian consent form for high schoolers. Applications will be reviewed and a selected group of mentees will be invited to attend orientation. Afterwards, the committee leads will notify mentees and mentors of their pairing in late December. A mandatory orientation will take place on Sunday, January 22.
