2026 MYS Internship Application

The Montana Youth Symphony will hire two interns to assist in the production of the 2026 summer festival. The position responsibilities will include tasks in the realms of production coordination and orchestra management. The interns will work on-site in Helena during the festival week (July 27-August 3, 2026) and will be provided room and board for the duration of the festival. Specific responsibilities will be divided between the selected interns based upon qualified experience, interest, and needs of the Montana Youth Symphony. Successful candidates will need a valid drivers license, strong creative problem solving and communication skills, and the ability to contribute to a positive team environment. Applications will be accepted through this form until 11:59pm on April 17, 2026. Interns may be eligible to play in the Montana Youth Symphony, depending on a successful separate audition process. Production Coordination

  • Will be responsible for rehearsal/concert setup and tear down.

  • Will be required to move equipment as needed.

  • Will work with MYS staff, board, and volunteers to ensure that all aspects of the rehearsal/concert sites are organized. 

  • Other production needs as they become apparent.


Orchestral Management

  • Assist in facilitating communication between musicians and between the MYS staff and musicians.

  • The intern will work closely with MYS staff share updates and announcements with musicians.

  • Will work with MYS team to coordinate the travel to the Grand Teton Music Festival.

  • Will assist and coordinate logistical needs as they occur.

  • Will mentor musicians who may need additional attention.


REMUNERATION

In addition to invaluable professional skills, interns will receive:

  • $700 stipend for the week

  • Travel reimbursement to Helena (up to $300)

  • Room, board, and travel during the festival week
