Intro to Beading with Kay Nadjiwon - COMMUNITY+Connects

Join us for a return of Kay Nadjiwon's workshop "Intro to Beading” this fall season.

Join Anishinaabeg artist Kay Nadjiwon for six weekly 2-hour workshop sessions where you'll learn some introductory beadwork skills, including brick, peyote, and flat stitch. Together, we'll practice these techniques and work on creating our own pair of fringe earrings, a beaded wrist lanyard, and a small pin.

DISCLAIMER: All materials will be provided to participants at the workshop.

Date and time: 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM every Thursday from September 4th - October 8th
Location: West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre, Activity Room 1 (313 Pharmacy Ave, Scarborough, ON M1L 3E7)

About Kay: Kay Nadjiwon (they/them) is a queer 2S Anishinaabe (Ojibwe + Potawatomi) artist raised and working on Williams Treaty Territory. They are a member of Batchewana First Nation and have familial ties to Neyaashiinigmiing. Their interdisciplinary practice spans photography, beadwork, textiles, sculpture, and installation. They hold a BFA in Photography and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art, Media & Design. Outside of their own creative practice, they work in community arts programming and workshop facilitation.
