Chinatown Youth Initiatives is again teaming up with OCA-NY and seeking high school interns for the Annual Hate Crimes Prevention Art Project (HCPAP), an art competition to empower youth and raise awareness about discrimination against communities of color.
Interns will work in a team of over 10 diverse youth leaders from around New York City to plan and implement HCPAP. Interns will devise the theme, create rules for the contest, judge submissions, and mount the artwork at the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) for the final day of the art contest.
Interns will receive:
-- A $300 stipend, subway fare (after the school year ends), meals at every training / workshop, a t-shirt, a fun outing, and an intern completion certificate (to include on each intern's resume)-- Sessions facilitated by OCA-NY staff in Lower Manhattan Tentative schedule: Trainings: Wednesdays Jun 5, Jun 12, Jun 19, Jun 26 Trainings: Wednesdays Jul 3, Jul 10, Jul 17, Jul 24 Team Outing: Week of Jul 29 to Aug 2 All-Day Artwork Judging: Tues Aug 6 & Wed Aug 7 (Mandatory) All-Day Artwork Mounting & Exhibition Launch: Thurs Aug 8 (Mandatory)-- A workshop training training from each partnering organization
