The U.S. Green Building Council - Missouri Gateway Chapter, in partnership with St. Louis Earth Day and St. Louis Green, is now accepting creative proposals for our September 10, 2013 program.

We are seeking presenters and topic ideas surrounding the theme of ‘DIY’ (Do It Yourself) Sustainability. Presentations will be made using the Pecha Kucha format which draws its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat" and allows presenters to showcase 20 slides that are set on a timer for 20 seconds per slide. This fast pace and fun approach will allow for a variety of subjects to be covered in a brief amount of time. Preference will be given to topics relevant to the built environment, but all ideas are welcome and encouraged!

This is our 2nd Annual DIY Sustainability Program, which is free and open to the public.  Last year over 100 attended.  Check out an article about the presentations here:!/content/25549/diy_spells_sustainability

Topic ideas may include, but are not limited to:
-urban homesteading
-renewable energy
-material reuse
-home aquaponics
-water conservation
-natural and green building projects
-residential or commercial sustainability initiatives

The possibilities are endless! Just remember to try and keep ideas related to the built environment and to keep in mind that each presentation will be short in length. We are hoping to gauge what would interest you and to get some fresh and creative ideas.

Proposals are due August 15, 2013 at  5:00PM CST.

USGBC-Missouri Gateway's Program on DIY Sustainability will take place from 5:30 - 7:30pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Schlafly Bottleworks, 7260 Southwest Ave, 63143.

Presentations must be delivered without endorsement, bias, marketing or sales orientation.

Upon acceptance of a proposal, presenters must agree to submit any additional information requested by the Chapter's program committee, such as outlines and presentation slides, in the requested time frame.

Proposals are received with the understanding that speakers are providing their services without compensation.
