West Virginia Rivers Coalition's Rivers Celebration
On Saturday, July 23, West Virginia Rivers Coalition will be holding a Rivers Celebration in Tucker County, WV along the Black Fork of the Cheat River. We're excited to, once again, gather supporters of our exceptional rivers and streams and to do so in one of the most beautiful places we know!

We hope you'll join us for an amazing day -and evening - of outdoor activities, meeting new people and catching up with longtime friends, and celebrating our wild and wonderful rivers and streams.

Please register below for activities so we can better plan for the event.

Free camping is offered on Saturday, July 23, adjacent to the event area at the Hendricks Town Park. Additional lodging is available at local campgrounds and AirBnB's (hurry, we hear spaces are filling up fast).

Once the day is done, we'll have a ticketed after party with the Chaga Tea Project (www.facebook.com/chagateaproject), food and drink.

Adult tickets are $40, kids age 10-15 are $15, kids under 10 are FREE - this will include a delicious meal from White Grass and 2 drink tickets. To secure your ticket, go to https://west-virginia-rivers-coalition.square.site/

We're excited to see you down by the river!

Registration and all activities will begin at 69 Green Hole Lane, Hendricks WV 26271.

12:00pm: Lunch and Learn – Mon National Forest Listening Sessions Report
Before the party begins, grab a free lunch with WV Rivers as we review a new report on the Mon National Forest summarizing a series of community listening sessions held in 2021. We’ll discuss the report, policy recommendations to address concerns mentioned, and will have time for a Q&A.
I will attend the Lunch and Learn
1:00pm - 3:00pm: River Snorkeling
A great activity for kids - and adults! Join Madison Ball, a staffer with Friends of Cheat, for some snorkeling in the Cheat River and exploring the critters that dwell in the river. Discover the biodiversity in our rivers and streams! If you have your own snorkel or goggles please bring them with you. If you are planning to snorkel please bring a bathing suit/swim clothes, sturdy water shoes or old sneakers, and dry clothes. Participants will need to drive to the snorkeling location.
I will attend the River Snorkeling session
3:00pm-4:30pm: Mushroom Hike
Expert mushroomers will lead a leisurely hike along one of the many trails that surround the town of Hendricks. They will be able to help you identify a variety of mushrooms, their uses, and their toxicity.
I will attend the Mushroom Hike session
5:00pm: Relax with Yoga by the Water
Bring your yoga mat and join us for a time of easy flow yoga. No matter your experience or ability, come to the water and connect your body and soul with nature. Led by WV Rivers staff scientist, Jenna Dodson, who is also an acroyoga instructor. We promise no acrobatics this time, but what we do promise is an amazing space to stretch and be open to the natural world.
