Youth for the Environment and People (YEP!) 2018-2019 application
Are you interested in taking action on an environmental or social issue that is important to you? Do you want to meet others interested in the same causes? Apply to be part of Youth for the Environment and People at RE Sources for Sustainable Communities! We are no longer accepting applications, but please check back in January.

YEP! is for supporting youth voices:

The purpose of this group is to create a student-led space for youth voice, because your voice matters -- and when you take action, communities benefit. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded youth on an issue that is important to you. You will learn advocacy skills from experts in the community and will develop skills you are interested in growing. Over the course of the 2018-2019 school year you will work towards a culminating change-making project. YEP! is intended to be student-led under the guidance of a Sustainable Schools Education Specialist.

Workshops and skills we'll work on:

We will work alongside you to choose an issue that everyone agrees on and that the organization believes they can support. Over the course of the 2018-19 school year, we will meet for a two-hour workshop once a month. In addition, you will participate in a service or action-oriented activity once a month to practice the skills you are acquiring.

We will support you through workshops on topics such as:

-Civics 101
-Problem solving
-Conflict resolution
-Leadership
-Collective organizing
-Outreach
-Public speaking

Requirements for participation:

-You must be in high school (9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade) to apply.
-You must be able to attend two monthly two-hour workshops starting October 18th until the end of May (see dates in application). One workshop will take place at RE Sources office in Bellingham at 2309 Meridian St. above the RE Store. In addition to this workshop, we will meet one other day each month for an action or serviced oriented project.
-You must live in Whatcom County.
