Thank you for your interest in serving as a mentor for the 2026 CAFE Mentorship Program. This program will support early-career researchers in developing NIH or similarly structured grant applications related to extreme weather and health. Mentors will provide guidance on research development, grant strategy, specific aims, and proposal preparation.
This program is not structured as a traditional one-on-one mentorship experience. As a mentor, you will participate in 3–4 virtual sessions throughout the program. Each session will include a guest speaker who will provide training on a grant-writing topic, followed by breakout discussions where your assigned mentees can ask questions and receive feedback on their grant development progress.
Mentees may also reach out to you outside of these sessions for additional feedback and guidance. While participation in meetings or communications outside of the scheduled program sessions is not a formal requirement of the program, mentors are encouraged to respond to mentee requests and provide reasonable feedback or support when contacted.
The program is expected to run from September 2026 - February 2027.
Application will close Friday, August 7th
