Join the Social Justice Initiative for the opening reception of Canadian-Chilean artist Soledad Fátima Muñoz's solo exhibition, We're Not All Here / No Estamos Todes.
This exhibition of weaving in cotton fiber and copper filament, paired with a sound installation, film, photography, and interactive maps documenting missing and murdered Black and indigenous women and girls, connects different cases of disappearance, from Chile to Palestine to the United States. Muñoz created textile portraits of six individuals to remember those who are absent--including Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, Palestinian surgeon and administrator Dr. Adnan al-Bursh; Chilean environmental activist Julia Chuñil, Chilean activist and folk singer Victor Jara, Black, trans woman from Chicago Taylor Casey, and Chicago immigrant-solidarity organizer Gladis Yolanda Chavez Pineda--and pull on the threads that connect different geographies of state violence and abandonment.

Únase a la Iniciativa de Justicia Social para la inauguración de la exposición individual de la artista canadiense-chilena Soledad Fátima Muñoz, "No Estamos Todes / We're Not All Here".
Esta exposición de tejido en fibra de algodón y filamento de cobre, acompañada por video documental, un instalación de sonido, fotos, y mapas interactivas que trata de mujeres y niñas negras e indígenas desaparecidas y asesinadas, conecta diferentes casos de la desaparición, desde Chile hasta Palestina y los EEUU. Muñoz creó retratos textiles de seis personas para recordar a lxs ausentes--incluyendo Shireen Abu Akleh, Dr. Adnan al Bursh, Victor Jara, Julia Chuñil, Taylor Casey, y Gladis Yolanda Chavez Pineda--y tirar los hilos que conectan diferentes geografías de violencia estatal y abandono por parte del estado.
