What is CFMS HEART? The Health and Environment Adaptive Response Task force (HEART) is a group within the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) that was established in 2016 to help coordinate advocacy efforts among Canadian medical students regarding current issues in environmental health and climate change. The committee has worked on a variety of initiatives including developing a set of core curricular competencies that address the main environmental issues to be included in the medical school curriculum across Canada, supporting student efforts across Canada via the Project Green Healthcare program, and many more.

GOALS OF THE CONFERENCE:
  1. Coordinate national and local efforts to advance planetary health advocacy, education and action.
  2. Draw attention to leaders in planetary health medical education and avenues to accelerate the universal implementation of planetary health topics in Canadian medical schools.
  3. Highlight medical student-led healthcare sustainability initiatives to spark innovation, engagement and collective action to achieve net-zero in Canadian healthcare.
  4. Improve the accessibility, transparency and accountability of CFMS HEART to support medical student-engaged planetary health action across Canada.
