Grants Pass v. Johnson was a Supreme Court decision in June 2024 that allows for the criminalization of camping in public. Effectively, this allows local governments to fine or even jail people living in encampments or are otherwise without safe shelter.

We are building a coalition of people and local organizations to fight back - you can join us! Rochester can and should do better for all of our unhoused neighbors and that includes:

Providing legal protection to people camping on public land
Allocating more resources towards housing services
No more sweeps of encampments
