The purpose of the Summit is to focus on the importance of graduating and providing strategies on how to graduate college and career ready. At the Summit, we will recognize Nebraska Junior or Senior Hispanic/Latino students that have displayed strong leadership efforts. Students need to be nominated by school staff members. The student’s leadership role may be in the classroom, the community, and/or extracurricular activities, etc. Students that are selected will be recognized at the Summit in the Gallery of Stars booklet which will include the student’s nomination information and photograph. We also plan to have a continual slideshow going of these students during the meals.
There will be a limit of 5 nominations accepted per building – Junior or Senior students only. (Please coordinate with others at the school, so that no more than 5 students are nominated - it will save disappointing a student later.) Please make sure the nominee is registered to attend the summit early, so that they are able to attend.
The Hispanic/Latino Summit planning committee is requesting your assistance in nominating a junior or senior student that has shown strong leadership skills and has goals for educational success. The information submitted by school staff must adhere to local district FERPA policies since it will be published. Please complete one form per nominee.
We hope to have a broad representation of successful Hispanic/Latino students from across Nebraska. Thank you for your assistance in bringing awareness to the achievement and success of Latino students.
