Jan Parker NRPA Conference Scholarship
Funded with proceeds from the NCRPA Visa Debit Card through partnership with Local Government Federal Credit Union

Purpose: The Jan Parker NRPA Conference Scholarship was established in 2014 to assist an outstanding NCRPA member with costs associated with attending the NRPA Conference. Jan Parker served as NCRPA President in 2006. She was an advocate for professional development and always enjoyed the opportunity to attend the NRPA Conference. This scholarship was established to honor her and her commitment to the parks and recreation profession. This scholarship is funded by proceeds from the NCRPA Visa Debit Card in partnership with the Local Government Federal Credit Union. The scholarship applications will be reviewed, ranked, and awarded by the North Carolina Recreation and Parks Scholarship Foundation.

The Scholarship provides $850 to be used towards the expenses associated with attending the NRPA Annual Conference to be held September 25-27, 2018 in Indianapolis, IN.

Application process
Scholarship applications are due to NCRPA by midnight on July 1. One applicant will be selected to receive the scholarship. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship recipient by July 31.
Eligibility Criteria
• Current NCRPA member
• Currently employed with a local parks & recreation agency in NC
• Participant in the NCRPA Visa Debit Card program (to be verified by LGFCU).
Required Application Materials
In order to complete this application, the following documents must be submitted:
• A Resume including work, education and volunteer experiences;
• Two letters of reference from individuals familiar with your job performance;
• Completed application (on the following page)
Recipient is expected to write a blog about their experiences at the NRPA Annual Conference to be shared with NCRPA members via our website and/or magazine.
