ABOUT STREET SHOW

Street Show is a busking program on Nicollet Mall that amplifies the street performance culture of downtown Minneapolis, supports vibrant street activities on Nicollet (e.g. markets), and improves the experiences of downtown visitors, workers and residents. Performer selection is curated by folks at The Warming House.

Location: Nicollet Mall
We will provide more information on specific locations once you are confirmed to play.

Performance:

Family friendly. Most of the performers that we book are musicians but this program is NOT limited to music. We have performance poets, painters and spoken word artists as well. (Drums are allowed on Nicollet Mall.)

Signage & Sound System:
You will be responsible for picking up signage (the red Street Show wagon) - it is required that you use the signage. DID is also providing small battery-powered sound systems for performers! Using a sound system is not required but if you do choose to take the sound system out you are responsible for checking it out from the office and returning it right after your show. Using your own sound system is not permitted.

Payment:

Below reflects the rates that we have paid in the past. We anticipate they will stay the same this year. We will never pay less than the rates below.
Solo performers = $50/hr
Duos = $80/hr
Trios = $90/hr
Plus you can collect tips and sell your merch!
Payments will be made by The Warming House.

2023 Time slots:

We anticipate a schedule much like last year, however that may change slightly. Last season we scheduled performers for the following days and times every week between mid-May and the end of September...

Tuesdays 11-1
Wednesdays 11-1, 12-2, and 3-5
Thursdays 11-1, 12-2, and 3-5

Street Show Artists Unite for Justice:

All tips will be matched by the Mpls DID as a donation to one of five social justice organizations (JXTA, YouthLink, Voices for Racial Justice, zAmya Theater Project, Kulture Klub Collaborative) that Street Show artists selected.
