We invite you to join us in pledging to end gun violence in Cumberland County; and commit to wearing ORANGE throughout June. Wear Orange was initiated when Hadiya Pendleton, a fifteen-year-old from Chicago, was shot and killed. After her death, her friends wore the color Orange in her honor. Since then, Orange has been the defining color of the gun violence prevention movement. Each year, social media lights up with the color Orange, not only to honor Hadiya, but to fight back and raise awareness about gun violence.
Speak up on social media by posting a picture of yourself, your friends, your organization, your place of worship, everywhere you belong, wearing Orange. You can also visit https://wearorange.org/go-orange/ and create your own #wearorange image to also share on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Feel free to tag your photos using the hashtag #CC_GunSafety and tagging CCPYDC on Facebook and Instagram.
