Welcome to the AI governance speaker series, co-sponsored by Harvard's Berkman Klein Center and the AI Safety Student Team! Please RSVP below so we know how much food to order for our event :)
Event Co-Sponsors: Harvard Law AI Student Association, Harvard Journal of Law & Technology
Time: 12:15-1:15pm, November 1
Description: Many companies are building AI agents: AI systems that can behave autonomously with little human input. Agents could be extremely useful, but could also present novel risks.
How should we think about governing AI agents and managing the risks they pose? Can existing frameworks be adapted to AI agents, and what technical tools and policies will we need to ensure that the rise of AI agents goes smoothly?
About the Speaker: Alan Chan is a Research Fellow at the Centre for the Governance of AI. Alan’s research focuses on agent governance, particularly on infrastructure to manage how agents interact with the world. He is also final-year PhD student in machine learning at Mila (Quebec AI Institute).
Location: Lewis International Law Center (1557 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02138) on the 5th floor at the Berkman Klein Center's Multi-Purpose Room 515. Here is a link to an HLS campus map:
