IMPACT OF THE CRISIS ON THE RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

The Economic crisis in the European Union is having devastating effects on the quality of our democracies, and on the economic and social structures that have been built in our societies over the last decades of economic growth.

The European Union’s “Europe 2020” strategy has made social inclusion one of the three pillars bringing Europe out the crisis.

Nevertheless, the European Disability Forum (EDF) denounces that current economic, social and political policies adopted by Member States and the European Union increased the numbers of people experiencing social exclusion in Europe.
