Join us on Wednesday, March 2nd at 3 pm eastern as Justin Pratt takes us through Detangling Chemistry Education Research, Scholarship of Teaching & Learning, and Science Education!
The Interactive Online Network of Inorganic Chemists (IONiC) was formed to provide support for isolated inorganic faculty with interests in improving their teaching. Over the years, IONiC has grown through the Virtual Inorganic Pedagogical Resource (VIPEr) website as well as through expanded community building tools like Discord. As chemists hone their teaching craft, it is not uncommon for research interests to broaden to include research related to teaching and learning. Getting started in education research is challenging though – it’s an entirely different focus with a lot of confusing terms. This discussion will focus on detangling the various scholarly fields that focus on teaching and learning and will provide a space to ask questions and learn more about how to get started in this disciplinary context. If you’re interested in education research and want to learn more, then this discussion is for you! As with all SLiThErs, we will record this and post it to our YouTube channel.
A link for the zoom will be sent out the morning of March 2nd
