Level 1: Child has had no swim lessons or does not exhibit level 2 skills.

Level 2: Child opens eyes under water, submerges mouth and nose, floats on back, glides on front, and enters/exits the water independently.

Level 3: Child exhibits level 2 skills as well as: goes under water, treads water, can front float and roll over to a back float, can push off and swim using a combination of arm and leg action for 15 feet on both front and back. Child needs stroke development.

Level 4: Child exhibits level 3 skills as well as: can swim freestyle and backstroke across one length of the pool with minimal pushing off the bottom. Child needs introduction to breaststroke and butterfly.

Level 5: Child exhibits level 4 skills as well as: a good understanding of breaststroke and butterfly but needs stroke development. Child needs diving development.
