Thank you for your interest in serving as a visitor/volunteer with Maple Valley Schools. Our District Board Policy states:

“The Superintendent or the principal has the authority to prohibit the entry of any person to a school of this District or to expel any person when there is reason to believe the presence of such person would be detrimental to the good order of the school.”  and 4120.09 Volunteers , “Any volunteer who works with or has access to students shall be screened through the Internet sites for the Sex Offenders Registry (SOR) list, the Internet Criminal History Access Tool (ICHAT) criminal history records check and the Offender Tracking Information System (OTIS) prior to being allowed to participate in any activity or program.”

As such, any visitors who have access to classroom events, or school grounds for events such as field day at the elementary level must be prescreened a minimum of 5 days prior to the event. These screens must be conducted every school year. Exceptions to this rule include an invited speaker or presenter who shall remain in the presence of certified staff in charge of students at all times. Paid school events such as sporting events, paid play productions or concerts are also exempt. Graduation ceremonies at all levels and NHS induction ceremonies are exempt as well.

Please take the time to fill out this form in full. Staff will be notified and the ICHAT process will be run. Upon running the ICHAT process, you will be notified only if your results return any conflicts. If you want to verify that you have been approved, you can check with any of the building secretaries.
