2024 Mental Health Leadership Cohort Interest Form

Since 2019, Hutchinson Community Foundation has held a Kansas Leadership Center Leadership Transformation Grant on behalf of Hutchinson and Reno County communities, during which time 112 individuals representing 49 Reno County businesses and organizations have attended KLC programs. The grant leadership team includes Donna Davis (retired nonprofit executive), Denice Gilliland (Hutch Rec), Kari Mailloux (Hutchinson Community Foundation), Dave Sotelo (City of Hutchinson), Valerie Taylor (United Way of Reno County), and Gregg Wamsley (Hutchinson Public Library).

Our collective effort is to saturate the community with people who not only understand KLC principles and competencies but who will apply them regularly for the common good of our community. Ultimately, we intend to create a community of co-workers with a common language as part of a movement that values strong relationships, collaboration, and experimentation toward a more connected, resilient, and thriving community for all people.

In 2024, our Transformation Grant will support a cohort to learn about the KLC leadership principles and competencies and then apply them directly to an adaptive challenge relating to mental health in Reno County. This effort is in support of the 2023 Reno County Community Health Improvement Plan and the United Way of Reno County’s Mental Health Task Force.

Twenty individuals will be selected to form the year-long cohort, and all will attend local cohort connections and the April 16 When Everyone Leads program at KLC in Wichita. Ten individuals from the cohort will then continue on the KLC path to complete Your Leadership Edge (June 25-26) and Lead for Change (Oct 15-17) at KLC. Ideally, two individuals from an organization will participate in the cohort together for shared learning and collaborative impact. No previous KLC experience is necessary.
