Make Geneseo Smoke Free!
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer related deaths amongst men and women, killing more people than colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined. In 2017, the American Cancer Society estimates that 222,500 people in the United States will be diagnosed with lung cancer and 155,870 will die from the disease. There is no method to completely prevent lung cancer but by limiting the amount of smoke/carcinogens that enter the body, the risk of getting lung cancer is significantly reduced. Outlawing the use of tobacco/smoking on campus would be taking a step towards decreasing the amount of people that will be diagnosed/die from lung cancer.
