The course is ideal for:
Child minders, Nannies (Registering with Ofsted), Children’s Centre Staff, Nursery / Crèche Staff / School Staff and after school club staff.
The course covers the following content for babies and children:- Appropriate contents of a first aid box, including recording accidents and incidents.- Planning for first aid emergencies and dealing with emergencies.- Resuscitating babies and children.- Recognising and dealing with shock.- Responding appropriately to burns, choking, suspected fracture and scalds.- Responding appropriately to head, neck and back injuries.- Responding appropriately to foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses.- Responding appropriately to eye injuries, bites and stings.- Responding appropriately to the effects of extreme heat and cold.- Responding appropriately to febrile convulsions.- Recognising and responding appropriately to bleeding, poisoning, anaphylactic shock and electric shock.- Recognising and responding appropriately to the emergency needs of babies and children with chronic medical conditions, including epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell anaemia, diabetes.- Recognising and responding appropriately to meningitis and other serious sudden illnesses.
This is a certified course, valid for 3 years.
