Thank you for your interest in participating during Worship City's 4 day, 3 night love song to Jesus, at the Tennessee State Capitol's Legislative Plaza. We are excited to see the beautiful diversity of the Church coming together on common ground to exalt Jesus, pray, proclaim His Word, and evangelize the lost! This document lays out the logistics and, more importantly, the "heart" needed to participate at David's Tent Tennessee. We require that every worship and prayer leader, Bible reader, and volunteer read and agree to these guidelines. For more about our community, please view our website at http://WorshipCity.US and join our social media sites for updates:

Loving Jesus in worship, prayer, Bible reading, evangelism, and volunteer team leadership is our focus at Worship City. We have the very specific focus of MINISTERING TO THE LORD. This is not a performance venue, and we are not promoting any social or political views. We're not protesting anything or even focused on ministering to the people under the worship tent (although we know God's presence will do that as many join in worshiping Jesus). Our ultimate goal is to give Jesus the love, adoration, glory and honor that He is due at the "seat of authority" of our state capitol. Ministry will be a natural outgrowth of this event. Worship is under the main tent (David's Tent Tennessee), prayer is offered under 2 public prayer tents, and scheduled evangelism outreaches and prayer walks in the city, will all be taking place at the same time... and all the while Bible reading will be going on simultaneously under 2 tents on the perimeter. We thank Dick Eastman, Jason Hershey (and the leadership at David's Tent DC), for encouraging us back in 2015 to establish David's Tent Tennessee, and for encouraging our leaders over the years ever since! They are an inspiration and pioneers of the tent movement!

Here are ways you can serve in one or more of 7 tents:

All PRAYER and BIBLE TENTS will BEGIN at 12noon, Thurs, Oct 17th, and end at 3pm, Sun, Oct 20th

WORSHIP will MOVE to the MAIN WORSHIP TENT from 9pm, Thurs, Oct 17th after the Opening Ceremony until 3pm, Sun, Oct 20th, when the Closing Ceremony begins.

Worship teams in the worship tent will minister unto the Lord with music and singing. Songs of worship, thanksgiving, praise, and adoration to Jesus, including singing scriptural prayers and songs of prophecy are all welcomed. We ask that there be no speaking from the platform or over the microphones. All ages are welcome to participate under any tent. Special prayers and free resources will be under the "Need Prayer?" tent next to the worship tent. During your "scheduled set" under one of the tents, you will wear a badge with our Worship City and David's Tent Tennessee logos, and are given authority to make decisions regarding what transpires at the tent where you are assigned. (If someone is not wearing a badge, they are not authorized to make decisions. This is for your protection.)

When we give you a platform at Worship City, we are in some measure putting our reputation in your hands. Our Worship City leaders have a set of core values we'd like you to read and agree to, which is available by Clicking Here: https://worshipcity.us/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/WC-DTTN-Core-Values.pdf We need to be able to trust you to embody and protect these values that define who we are at Worship City and David's Tent Tennessee. These values should guide all of your actions during this event, both inside and outside the tents on the Plaza.

No one is making money from this event. We don't offer payment to worship teams or anyone else working at the tents. This is all volunteer-based ministry unto the Lord. We also will not sell any products, but we welcome free CD's or books if you choose to donate them for the free resource table in the "Need Prayer?" tent. We have a legal agreement with the Park Service and Plaza that we will not exchange money for resources during this event. This also helps protect our core identity as a freely-offered love song to Jesus rather than a concert venue. Worship City is currently raising funds to provide for the expenses of this ministry of pure worship and prayer to the Lord, exalting His Name. If you would like to donate funds for this event, we would really be grateful for your offerings. Please go to our donations page at http://worshipcity.us/donations/. (We are currently offering FREE Worship City t-shirts for gifts of $20 or more each.)

This is an outdoor tent, so watch the weather and come prepared! In cold weather, sweaters or light jackets can come in handy, although, normally the weather at this time of year is in the 70's in the daytime and in the 60's at night. In wet weather, umbrellas and rain coats are recommended as you go from one tent to another. Port-a-potties for all participants are available with a key from the administrator on duty at the resource and information tent, but you will need to bring your own food and drinks while ministering at the park (NO RED DRINKS are allowed on the plaza as it will stain the Plaza's slate tiles if spilled). Water bottles for participants will be provided under the "green room" tent behind the main worship tent.

We schedule all worship and Bible reading teams in 1-2 hour sets, and all prayer teams in 2 hour sets. Worship is amplified with a full sound system from 6am until 12midnight (sound should be turned down much lower from 10pm-12midnight, and from 6-8am, as there are hotels right by the Plaza). We will be unplugged for the night-watch, 12midnight to 6am, except for the keyboard, which should be on a very low volume during the night watch. And there will be a security guard on duty for the night watches. (To clarify what is accepted as worship on the platform, in the spirit of David's Tent DC's policies, we DO allow worship to consist of a solo voice or instrument alone. We even allow worship to be ministered in sign language with no sound!) We will have a keyboard with weighted keys, amplifiers for electric guitar and bass with direct boxes, and a full standard drum kit, which is the only way we can switch quickly from one group to another without a break, so please don't try to bring your own drum set or keyboard. We will also provide stools, chairs, music stands, and microphones with booms. We do appreciate your flexibility in this matter.

Most participants will likely prefer to stay at a hotel, an Air BnB, or a Youth Hostel within walking distance of the Tennessee Capitol's Legislative Plaza if you are coming from more than a few hours away and/or participating for more than one day. If you drive in from closer to Nashville each day, there are parking lots in several places close to the Plaza, which are noted on Google maps (the Library is also only one block away and offers a less expensive rate, and sometimes there is free parking on the streets on Sundays). If you are coming from a distance, many hotels and Air BnB's are within walking distance of the Plaza. We recommend travel sites like Expedia or Hotels.com to find the best rates and to check ratings (or call direct to hotels you see are close by on google maps). If you are willing to host 1 or more guests in your home, or you would like to stay in someone's home to save money, please indicate this below on the application, and we will try to accommodate you. There are also cheaper lodging opportunities just outside of the downtown area. And one could then use Uber or Lyft to come to the capitol.

Because of security requirements, any equipment you bring must enter the Plaza by hand-carrying. Security will not allow you to pull your car up to the tent for equipment drop-off, so you will need to carry it from the street vehicle drop off point, hotel, or wherever you park. You are required to come at least 30 minutes in advance of your set so you can be prayed for and well-prepared to minister. If you have a guitar, or other instrument, please bring it to the "green room" tent or set it down on the floor beside the platform near the back of the stage. You can open it by the stage and leave your case there until after your set. We are not able to store instruments in the tent all day. But if you have a set at a prayer or Bible tent before or after your worship set, and your instrument case is large, you may leave in beside the platform until you are done.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time to worship, pray, read the Bible, evangelize, or volunteer. You may even need this entire time-buffer to negotiate traffic, parking, and last-minute unforeseen issues (We hope you can come for our closing ceremony on Sunday at 3:00 PM, but be mindful of traffic coming in, as there is a Titans game beginning at 3:00 PM, Oct 20th). If all goes smoothly and you have time upon your arrival, we would like you to join the ongoing worship under the Main Worship Tent, and center your heart on Jesus before your ministry set begins. And we request ALL worship teams to go to the "Pray for the Nations" prayer tent 30 minutes before your set to be prayed for. Many of our key leaders will be taking 8 hour shifts, covering a variety of responsibilities while we are overseeing the tents. You can also say yes if you want to be a part of our key volunteers team. We can explain more with you after this application comes to us what options are available to you for further involvement while serving at the Plaza. You can participate as much as you want, and we encourage you to do this.

We strive for a seamless hand-off between worship sets. If you are a worshiper or band, please have everything tuned and prepared as much as possible off-stage, then begin setting up on the stage during the last 10 MINUTES of the set that is before yours. Your sound check will be done live as your set begins. Please be gracious to the group after you, who will be setting up during your last ten minutes as well. We have seamless transitions of worship at David's Tent Tennessee, so it's important that you are ready on time.

To minimize security concerns about large amounts of equipment moving on and off the Plaza, and the limited time for set-up, we do not allow worship teams to bring their own keyboards or drum sets as was said above. Beyond this, you are welcome to bring whatever you need, including your own snare or djembe drum, if you wish. If you are a worship leader or team, we encourage you to use as much of our equipment as possible for smoother transitions between sets. We will have available a weighted keys keyboard that is midi compatible, a full standard drum set, 6 vocal mics, several instrument mics, DI boxes, cables, music stands, monitor wedges, and a full sound system with a sound person on-hand. (If you would like to donate any sound equipment for this event, or know someone who would, please contact our office at 615-933-3131 and leave a message for our office staff.)

The Plaza Managers and Police have the authority to inspect your belongings at any time. You may be asked to open your cases as you enter the Plaza for safety reasons. We don't want this or any weather issues to stop our ongoing worship or prayer! So please be prepared to unplug and do an impromptu acoustic set off the Plaza perimeter, as we never know what can happen in these non-stop worship and prayer events. Your scheduled time slot will remain the same, regardless of any disruptions. We also encourage everyone in the tent to minimize talking, so the worship teams are encouraged by your participation and prayers. Talking and relational conversation should be limited to the outside of all the tents so that the atmosphere is not disturbed by those who are not participating in singing and worshiping along with the team on the platform... which is basic consideration and respect for the worshipers, prayer leaders, and Bible readers before the Lord.

Finally, don’t forget that a heart that is connected to Jesus, and clean of known sin, is the most important piece of equipment in your gig bag. Before you come, please spend time individually and as a team centering your hearts on Jesus and asking the Holy Spirit to take you to deeper levels of intimacy with Him. As in the days of Jehoshaphat, this is much more than a music and spiritual event. We are at the seat of authority of the state of Tennessee, and feel that we can spiritually re-claim our entire state, and even nation for God's purposes and Kingdom, powerfully pushing back the darkness through our non-stop worship, prayer, and declaration of God's Word. Our Worship City team is leading a 40 day fast statewide from August 30th to October 9th as a time of preparation for this tent event. It's not too late, just ask to join our prayer teams group page here:
