The Nevada Registry: 2019 Adult Learning Academy Participant Application
INTRODUCTION:
In order to qualify as a trainer, individuals must present evidence of having delivered a minimum of 15 hours of training in the past (in addition to meeting all other criteria). Individuals who do not meet this criteria cannot proceed with the trainer qualification and application process, regardless of whether all other criteria has been met. The Adult Learning Academy (ALA or “the Academy”) is the pathway available through The Nevada Registry’s training approval system (TAS) to help individuals obtain the training delivery hours needed to initially qualify.

DESCRIPTION:
The Adult Learning Academy (ALA or “the Academy”) is an in-person classroom-style training session designed to help prepare individuals with less than 15 hours of previous training experience to qualify as a trainer for the first time. While the Academy is open to both Early Childhood and Topic Trainers, priority will be given to those working in Early Childhood and to those whose intent is to deliver training to the general Early Childhood public (i.e. not delivering in-house training to staff).

The ALA is focused on adult learning and will provide prospective trainers with fundamental principles and foundational information to help support the delivery of high-quality training sessions. Space in the Academy is limited to eight participants. Please note that a minimum of four participants must be enrolled in order for the Adult Learning Academy to be offered. Cost to attend: $75 (paid directly to the trainer two weeks prior to the first day of class). Registration fees are non-refundable.

BENEFITS:
1. Upon receiving a evaluation rating of 3.5 or higher, individuals are eligible to apply for trainer approval with The Nevada Registry.
2. Individuals will receive 15 Registry-approved training hours that can be applied toward annual training requirements for Child Care Licensing (if applicable).

EXPECTATIONS:
Successful graduates of the Adult Learning Academy are expected to apply to become an approved trainer with The Nevada Registry within two months of completing the Academy. ALA graduates are expected to deliver a minimum of two of four required training sessions to the general ECE public before the end of the current calendar year.

DATES OF TRAINING:
Dates for the Las Vegas Academy: January 29, February 5, February 12, February 19 and February 26, 2019. Each class will be held from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension office.

What do you believe influences the delivery of high-quality training and professional development? *
Your answer
The ALA is designed to increase the number of approved trainers in the state and ultimately increase the amount of Registry-approved training available to the Early Childhood Community in Nevada. Because each Academy will be limited to a total of eight participants, efforts will be made to ensure that individuals from a variety of programs are included. Multiple participants from the same location will only be considered when space is available. Please indicate your current place of employment below. *

Who will be your primary audience? *
If you answered "Other" to the previous question regarding your primary audience, please describe below.
Your answer
The Adult Learning Academy requires a commitment and an investment of time from both the Instructor and Participants. It is a limited opportunity that should only be considered by individuals who are serious about becoming a long-term approved trainer with The Nevada Registry in order to deliver high-quality training to the ECE community at large. How often do you plan to deliver Registry-approved training once approved as a trainer? *
What topics are you interested in delivering? *
