Purpose and Scope
Performs advocacy functions within the TNTESOL organization. Serves for a 5-year term and trains the next Advocacy Representative during the last year of the term.
Essential Position Functions
1. Attends the yearly TESOL Advocacy and Policy Summit and report back to the Board.
2. Writes an advocacy article for each TNTESOL newsletter.
3. Performs other related duties in informing Board and membership about issues of advocacy for current and former English learners within districts and throughout Tennessee, the United States, and the world.
Minimum Qualifications
· Prior or current related experience in advocating for English learners
· Willingness to serve for the 5-year term and attend yearly Advocacy Policy Summit in Washington, D.C. each year
· Current member of TNTESOL
