By design, payday loans trap consumers in a downward spiral of debt. Currently, payday lenders charge dangerously high rates to mostly repeat borrowers. Financially stressed Minnesotans clearly need access to small, short-term loans, but not usurious loans that leave our neighbors worse off. Minnesotans for Fair Lending supports regulating predatory payday loans by enacting a 36% rate cap, following the lead of 18 states and the District of Columbia, and the city of Moorhead, MN!
