This summer a group of Baltimore organizations assembled a series of workshops and networking events for parents. Our hope is to create a space for families and anyone involved in schools to get the information, connections and support we need to build engaged school communities.

Workshop Descriptions
Please share which workshop(s) you will attend. This will allow us to have the correct amount of food and to provide childcare and transportation as needed. As much as possible, we are striving to have dynamic activities for children-- not just babysitting.
Why don't they show up? Organizing 101. It can be hard to build a solid PTO or other parent group. This workshop is for parents or any other school staff who want to learn the basics of organizing and think through ideas for how to build an organized parent group. Thursday, July 28, 6pm-7:30  (Virtual)
Technology Training for Families. Educator and parent, Chris Patterson will lead a workshop for families who would like to understand the apps and programs that their students use in their learning. Thursday, August 4th, 4-5pm. Fort Worthington Elementary Middle School (2710 E Hoffman St. 21213)
Organizing Diverse Families. Many schools have an organized parent group that does not represent the whole school community. This will be a discussion on what has worked to organize and engage a diverse group of families. Aug. 18 6pm-8pm, Patterson Park Public Charter School (27 N. Lakewood Ave. 21224). Special STEM activities for kids who need childcare.
Healing through Empathy: Training for Families. Heart to Heart and Baltimore Gift Economy will collaborate to lead a workshop to encourage the practice of wellness and stress management through empathic listening and simple acts of connecting to nature. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 6:00-8:00,  Arlington Elementary (3705 W Rogers Ave.)
Creating a Structure and Strategy for your Parent Group. This workshop will be led by PCAB and Teachers’ Democracy Project. It is for parent groups that want to create more structure for their work and create meaningful goals and strategies. RESCHEDULED for Monday Sept. 12, 5:30pm-7:00pm.
