InsideOut’s Brainstorm Summer Arts Institute is 10 days of virtual programming Monday through Friday beginning on July 18th and ending July 29th. The topic for this year is "Grief & Grace: Writing Through It". Students will be provided with a writing packet including a personal journal and a selection of books chosen by esteemed facilitators LaShaun phoenix Moore and Alana Gracey. Genres will include poetry, prose, songwriting, and improv. Through these methods, students will explore the Joy that can be found in the City of Detroit and within themselves while unpacking the highs and lows of the Pandemic on our communities and our hearts.

Participants must be entering 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade in the Fall of 2022 to participate.

HOW IT WORKS

Students will participate in two weeks of programming Monday through Friday beginning on July 18th and ending on July 29th. Each program day will include two, 2-hour sessions with a 30 minute break in between.

- Session 1: 12 noon to 2pm
- Session 2: 2:30pm to 4:30pm
