Spring 2024 Audition (CUBE's Swan Lake)

Thank you for your interest in joining Columbia University Ballet Ensemble (CUBE) for our Spring 2024 production of Swan Lake! This audition is open to all current Columbia University affiliates. CUBE offers a variety of roles, suitable & adaptable to all joining members: from beginners to advanced dancers. Everyone who fills out this form will secure a casting opportunity consistent with their ballet training.

We also encourage actors to audition, as there are many acting roles that drive the story forward in the ballet. Actor's audition registration form will be accessible through our partnership with CUPAL, or Columbia University Performing Arts League. This will be made available on a different date.

All dancers interested in auditioning must indicate their interest via this Google form. We have the following audition options:
  • Option 1: New Members and Returning Members: Attend the live audition at Bridge for Dance, 3PM on Friday January 26th. The audition class will take approximately 2 hours; some dancers will be called back immediately following the class for role-specific and/or partnering evaluation.
  • Option 2: New Members and Returning Members: Send us a recent video of yourself doing a ballet barre, steps in center (your best side), a variation, and/or a performance reel to cuballetensemble@gmail.com by Friday, January 26th @ 11:59PM.
  • Option 3: Absolute Beginners only: If you are an absolute beginner, you do not need to audition. Simply demonstrate your interest by filling out this form. For supplementary ballet training, we suggest taking Steps on Broadway's Basic Ballet classes and/or fulfilling your P.E. Requirement (or 0 crediting) by taking Ballet 1 or 2 at Barnard College. 
  • Option 4: Participated in past CUBE productions (Giselle, Don Q, Sleeping Beauty): If you have previously participated in CUBE in the past, it is strongly recommended that you re-audition this spring. However, if you cannot make it to this audition or don't wish to send in a video, we can still cast you based on past performances, auditions, and rehearsals by selecting Option 4. Otherwise, please choose between Options 1 and 2.
