2020 Capital Fringe Festival Application
In July, the Fringe Festival will celebrate its fifteenth year. Over the past fifteen years amateur to professional performing artists have produced over 2,000 individual productions. And even more astonishing, 962 have been original works never to grace a stage anywhere before being presented at the Festival. Since the Festival’s inception, 380,000 audience members have taken a chance on productions--generating $2,370,000 in ticket revenue that has been paid directly to the artists.

Applications for #capfringe20 will remain open until January 10, 2020 at 5 pm EST. We look forward to receiving your application detailing your story to tell.

About the 2020 Capital Fringe Festival
The Capital Fringe Festival will once again be centered in SW DC with our anchor venue partner, Arena Stage. Fringe is pleased to announce that an outdoor tented hangout bar spot will be headquartered at Saint Matthews Church.

Participation in the Fringe Festival is an opportunity to develop work in a competitive, but encouraging, environment with a built-in audience. Festival staff guide participants through the six-month producing process. It is a chance for participants to get feedback from audiences and other artists and earn a majority share of ticket revenue (in 2019, participants earned an average of $1,120 in ticket revenue).

Applications are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis, dependent on what we can accommodate in our venues.

Capital Fringe Festival accepts online submissions ONLY. Remember that the Fringe Festival is a unique producing environment. The pace is faster, the timeline is more compressed, and you have less control over factors such as venue choice, tech, ticketing, and schedule. We need you to trust that our guidelines and rules are in place to keep everything running smoothly.

Applications will not be considered complete unless they are filled out fully and correctly, and with the application fee paid. No TBA or TBD productions can be accepted. Remember that applications must be submitted online to be accepted.

Individuals and/or companies may only apply to produce one project in the Capital Fringe Festival. For example, you may not produce a show under your personal name and one under your company. This rule exists to keep the festival a fair producing environment for all.

Though it is possible for individual actors or crew to participate in more than one show during the Fringe Festival, we cannot guarantee to accommodate scheduling conflicts for people participating in multiple shows.
