BFN Lead Volunteer Training Registration

Starting in January, each Onsite Pantry shift will have additional Lead volunteers, in addition to the Pantry Lead. The new Intake Lead Volunteers will be stationed at a table just inside the vehicle gate, under a canopy. This will:

  • Allow the pantry line to keep moving while new clients fill out forms.
  • Support the quality, accuracy, and usability of data collected.
  • Maximize client dignity and reduce escalated client interactions.
  • Provide clients with access to additional resources/information.
  • Support the growth of BFN’s Onsite Pantry Program by formalizing volunteer feedback to the Pantry Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator about clients, processes, etc.

The Pantry Lead will continue to set up the pantry, delegate tasks to Pantry volunteers, oversee stock and Pantry operations, and help the whole team host a productive pantry. Pantry Leads are essential to the flow of communication between the Warehouse Operations team and the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Lead Volunteer Training (4 sessions)
We have scheduled a special training by Leah’s Pantry (a non-profit focused on nutrition-related education) for current or prospective Pantry Lead volunteers serving at any of BFN’s Onsite or Mobile Pantries. This four-session training is also open to any volunteer wishing to build their customer service strategies for BFN’s food distributions. Volunteers must also complete one hour of self-paced learning via the Leah’s Pantry online training platform before the first training session on January 30.
  • Lead Pantry Volunteer Training | Weekly on Mondays: January 30; February 6, 13, 27 | 2:00 -3:30 pm
January 30 - Onsite Pantry Volunteer Training
    February 6 - Leah's Pantry Training Part 1
    February 13 - Leah's Pantry Training Part 2
February 27 - Onsite Pantry Client Intake Training

  • The four-session Lead Pantry Volunteer Training training will provide volunteers (and staff) with a deeper understanding of food security, nutrition, and trauma, and will identify and explore pantry best practices to support our clients. Training will also provide tools to handle difficult situations that sometimes arise and provide instruction on how to direct clients to resources. After completion of the training, the Volunteer Coordinator and Pantry Coordinator will be in regular communication with Leads to ensure a successful launch.
