The Kansas 4-H SpaceTech Action Team, Kansas 4-H Youth Development and KSU Polytechnic in Salina are co-sponsoring a Kansas 4-H SpaceTech training on Saturday, April 27, 2019.
Registration and payment of $25.00 made payable to the Kansas 4-H Foundation is due postmarked by April 15, 2019. A current copy of your Kansas 4-H Participation Form is preferred prior to the training or must be brought the day of the training. The registration fee includes lunch, breaks, two workshops, workshop materials and training team costs. Registration fees are non-refundable unless KSRE cancels the workshop due to low numbers. Every person must register once to attend this workshop. No family registrations. The workshop is one-day only. As such, a chaperone is not needed (but they will be welcomed as full participants) for the event.

The purpose of the Kansas 4-H SpaceTech and KSU Polytechnic Training in Salina is to engage participants in active learning, practicing, meeting new friends, hard work and lots of fun. Participants will get to attend two of the following in-depth workshops: Basic Rocketry and Basic Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones). Both workshops will be offered twice, and participants will have the ability to attend both. Partial refunds will not be given for those who chose to only attend one of the two workshops offered.
Registration information may also be found from the “What’s Hot” section on the Kansas 4-H website home page: www.Kansas4-H.org. 4-H members (12-19-years-old), parents, volunteer 4-H leaders, Extension staff, and educators working with youth who are interested in 4-H science, engineering and technology (SET) project areas. This training is being held in the Salina, but it is open to any Kansas resident on a first-come, first-serve registration basis. Registration is limited to 30 per each session with a minimum of 10 required for each workshop session to be taught. No youths 11 and younger will be accepted to this training. Consider sending a team of youth and adults from your county/district to be trained to take home valuable information. Parents planning on assisting their older children during the training need to register for the training. This training is not designed as a parent-child 4-H project activity, but as a train-the-trainer program to take information back home to work with 4-H members in a SpaceTech project setting.
There is no partial refund for not attending a workshop in the morning or afternoon. Workshops offered: 1. Basic Rocketry- Learn how a rocket works and learn skills to teach in beginning rocketry. The session will include construction of simple kit rockets . Basic judging information, state fair rules, National Association of Rocketry (NAR) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules will be also be shared.
2. Basic Unmanned Aerial Systems – Learn about the world of drones and their infinite possibilities. Participants will get classroom instruction, as well as time to experiment/play with small drones in the giant outdoor pavilion (caged netting) on the KSU Polytechnic campus or an indoor hanger in the event of windy or stormy weather.

Attire: Casual dress will appropriate. Remember, the Kansas 4-H Dress Code will be in place.
Etiquette: Participants will be representing themselves, Kansas 4-H, and all youth in general. We expect they will model the six pillars of Character, Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.
