To whom it may concern,
Golden Bears Aikido Club is an ASUC student organization at UC Berkeley created by students with the facilitation and instruction provided by Brandon WilliamsCraig Sensei Ph.D., 5th dan, founder and Chief Instructor of Free Aiki Dojo. We provide the Cal community on and off campus with pay-what-you-can self-defense and conflict-systems training in Martial Nonviolence®, Peace Practices®, and traditional aikido.

Building on the Cal club originally founded in 1968 to learn the “Art of Peace”, aikido has been practiced formally and informally on campus ever since. Many well-known aikido practitioners around the world were educated at Cal, and look forward to UC Berkeley building its program in order to be on par with UC Santa Cruz, Riverside, and Irvine, Sofia University, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, the University of Chicago, and many other institutions of higher learning around the globe who understand the value of pairing liberal study with a peace practice which embodies “conflict done well”.
We, the undersigned, ask that you join with us in making a permanent physical and curricular place for aikido training at the University of California, Berkeley. Each person named below has also asked to be kept informed of the Golden Bears schedule of classes, events, and will be closely following the growth and sustainability of aikido on campus. Please help us practice peace, building on UC’s proud aikido history, so that we may learn how to do conflict well and increase the stature and resources of the institution of which we are so proud.
