Thank You For Your Interest In Our 2019 Farm Share Program!
We are excited at the possibility of having you as a member of our farm. You are a valuable, integral part of our community. Groundwork Market Garden is built on a foundation of commitment—to the land, to our customers, and to each other. That commitment is reflected in everything we do, including signing up new members. This agreement represents our commitment to you. We will work hard to bring you the best and most delicious produce possible. We want you and your family to enjoy good eating by having a connection to the source of your food. In return, we need you to commit to us. Please take a few minutes to carefully read through this agreement as it will help us lay the groundwork (wink, wink) for a successful year together. There are several places in this agreement where your information or agreement are needed.
Program Details
Groundwork Market Garden is currently offering one subscription program for weekly pick-up of farm fresh goodies! Our CSA program will run weekly for 20 weeks, starting Tuesday, June 4th and going until Tuesday, October 15th. Pick up will be at our farm each week from 4-7pm. We ask that you please bring a reusable shopping bag/cardboard box/vessel of your choice to bring your veggies home in. If you do forget, we will make bags available, though we strongly suggest to bring your own!
Share Expectations and Pricing
New to CSA programs? Seasoned vet? Welcome! We are thrilled you are considering joining us. Each week you can expect an abundance and variety of veggies- some familiar and some maybe previously unknown to you! As a member, you will learn the excitement and anticipation of eating with the seasons. Early spring greens, radishes and sweet snap peas will give way to summer’s heat loving crops like tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and eggplant. In the fall, root crops and hearty greens will dominate your plate. We try to provide garlic and onions of some sort each week, as well as several types of lettuce/greens, as we know they are staples in the kitchen. You can expect 8-12 items each week. If you are an expert at cooking with veggies, you should have no problem using them up for you and your family (2-4 people) each week. If you are new to this, you will have to learn to get crafty and creative. If you think the share may be too big for you, we encourage you to sign up with a friend! You can alternate weeks picking up or split the share each week. Our program gives you creative and artistic license in the kitchen. You will have access to a private CSA Members page where you can share ideas, recipes, kitchen successes, and more. So expect to learn and have fun with this!

The price for our program is $500. If you sign up before February 22nd, you can purchase the share for a discounted price at $475. This price of $500 breaks down to $25/week for an abundance of vegetables that are hand seeded, planted, watered, weeded, harvested and thoughtfully grown by your two personal farmers, Anders and Mayda! Many times throughout the season, the items in your share will add up to a value well above $25. It is an investment in your good health, the health of your community, and small scale local agriculture. Below is a tentative list of veggies, subject to change, and available dependent upon a number of factors including season, pest/disease, and weather. The program’s shares primarily consists of vegetables, but will also include some small fruits, culinary herbs, microgreens, and flowers.

**NOTE: Because we are an adorably small urban farm, there are certain things that just don’t make sense for us to grow. The good news is, we’re teaming up with our friends at other local, organic farms to bring you the things we can’t! Please know, the majority of what we provide in our shares will be grown on the farm. From time to time, we may throw in some items (ie. potatoes, winter squash, etc) from our partners. We will always be 100% transparent when we do, and it will always be organic and locally sourced!

Payments, Refunds and Cancellations
We appreciate your timely payment. If circumstances arise that prevent you from paying your balance, please contact us to discuss a plan. We will communicate with you via email if we can’t distribute your share because of nonpayment. We thank you in advance for understanding. If you move out of Buffalo or suffer a hardship that prevents you from utilizing your share, you may be eligible for a refund of the remainder of the season. Refunds are given at the farm’s discretion—please call us to discuss options. If you decide CSA isn’t for you, we ask that you look for a replacement member to take over your share. The farm depends on each member’s commitment to cover expenses and provide enough food for everyone. Please call us to discuss a refund. If Groundwork Market Garden cannot fulfill its obligation to deliver quality shares in the quantity estimated to members for reasons other than extraordinary disease, pest, and weather events, all members will receive a refund of the remainder of the season.

Risk and Reward
Shared risk and reward is the heart of the traditional CSA model. By joining our farm, you are becoming a part of our agricultural community. Together, we agree to share in the risk and reward of farming. If the year is especially abundant, you will receive product of exceptional quality and size. If the year is a difficult one with difficult pest, disease, and weather pressures, you may receive fewer items or items of lesser quality. If we experience an extreme natural disaster, such as a flood or tornado, you may receive no further products at all. Of course, we do not anticipate such happening, but we will do our best to accommodate you if it should. At the same time, you can share in the abundance of the farm! Some members want more items for canning or freezing. For those who do want more, we provide bulk product at discount rates. Beginning in August, we will announce bulk buying opportunities for our members—extra tomatoes, kale, beans, pickling cukes, etc. available for bulk purchase at 10% below our wholesale rates, which change each year and throughout the season. Availability and current discount pricing will be announced in our member newsletter.
