Skate Canada will be hosting a Synchronized Skating Technical Panel Training Seminar in a hybrid format this year including:
- Virtual: three
sessions held in January on a Tuesday or Wednesday (each 2 hours in length)
- In-person: February 9-11, 2024 in conjunction with Skate Ontario Synchro Series #3 in Oakville, ON
The in-person portion will require and include the following:
- Arrival Feb 8th (anytime)
- Feb 9-10
classroom and practical application
- Feb 11
exams (departure by 3pm)
Examination: Examination is comprised of two phases:
- Phase I:
- Written examination comprised of assessment of technical knowledge and element identification
- Video exam, simulating actual panel process
- Phase II:
- Mentorship and practical examination on panel at Section Level Invitational events
Following candidates successful completion of the seminar and requisite on-panel assessments, they will be required to complete STAR 1-4 Event Assessor Clinic (full clinic) if they have not already done so.

As we have limited spaces available
in this course, the Skate Ontario Synchronized Skating Officials Working Group will consider all applications for this clinic, and will select candidates based on:
- Personal synchronized skating background and experience
- Interest in becoming an official
- Geographic location
- Other competencies and skills
Candidates will be advised on the status of their application in the weeks following the deadline (exact timing is TBD).
