Anti-Racism Study Group at Hubbard Brook
This poll will help organize our study group. Please answer as many or as few questions as you wish.

Note that this study group is different from the summer study group -- aka "Hubbard Brook Reads" -- that is forming separately around reading the book Braiding Sweetgrass.

The podcast Seeing White has been suggested as a good starting point for this group. (Season 2 of Scene on Radio, https://www.sceneonradio.org/seeing-white/). Would this be a good place to start for you?
Strongly disagree with this choice. I would not participate.
Strongly agree with this choice. I can't wait to talk about this podcast with others at Hubbard Brook!

Do you have other suggestions for a starting point for this group? Provide any that you think would be better than starting with the Seeing White podcast.
Quarterly meetings (4 times per year) have been suggested for this group, potentially in the week before the quarterly meetings of the Hubbard Brook Community of Scientists (COS). In this case, the first meeting would be in October. Would that meeting frequency work for you? Please rank your answer below, where a "3" would be just the right number of meetings.

Breakout groups might be used, if needed, to maintain an ideal discussion group size. What would be the ideal group size for you?

Would you want to participate within an affinity group  for breakout discussions?
Affinity groups are created of folks with similar experiences. In conversations about race, racially-based affinity breakout groups can protect people of color from being retraumatized in discussion. White folks in affinity groups are also able to explore their racial privilege and take on the burden of teaching each other, rather than relying on people of color to do that emtional labor for them. To learn more about affinity groups, see, for example, https://www.racialequitytools.org/resources/act/strategies/caucus-and-affinity-groups or https://culturallyresponsiveleadership.com/affinity/.
