The winner of the game will represent Oceania at the 2021 Women's World Championships. The venue and date is yet to be announced.
NZAFF and Gridiron Australia need to confirm the plan for the qualifier by the 1st July 2019 so we need to make a decision prior to that date.
In brief the process will be:- Confirm that there are sufficient numbers of players to mount a campaign. In the case of the Women's, 11 person full contact, there would probably need to be around 100 players registering in order to have a viable selection pool of players.- If the numbers are considered sufficient then a Coach will be appointed who will then work on a detailed plan, with the assistance of NZAFF, to present to the Board for final approval.- Once the approval is given then the Campaign will commence.
Further details of the National Teams Process can be found on the NZAFF Web site in the Women's National Teams page. Players interested in registering should read the document so that they are aware of the commitments required and the conditions of participation in the campaign.
The campaign will need to be self-funded. The estimated cost of the campaign will be approximately $3,000 per player. This will be confirmed if the campaign proceeds.
If there are sufficient registrations and the campaign is approved by the board a deposit will be required from each registrant in order to confirm their commitment and to ensure that the campaign proceeds. The repayment conditions can be found in the National Teams Process document on the NZAFF web page. Please read this document.
The registration process will be open until the end of March 2019.
