AUTHOR REQUIREMENTS & CONTENT GUIDELINES:

  1. You must identify as an Adult Survivor: Authors must be adult survivors of Child Psychological Abuse related to Parental Alienation and/or Abduction (CPAPAA), even if their most obvious trauma was a different form of abuse.

  2. Share Your Journey: Authors should share their direct personal experiences of CPAPAA and its significance in their advocacy. While this is a personal and challenging topic, the authors chapter should at least summarize and reflect on the CPAPAA form of abuse to help readers understand or identify with your experience.

  3. Blend of Personal Stories and Advocacy: Your submission should include personal stories and descriptions, but focus more on how you’ve transformed your experiences into advocacy or a purposeful mission.

  4. High-Quality Submissions: All contributions must be original and not previously published. Authors are responsible for ensuring their work does not infringe on previously published material or the rights of others. Entries should be well-crafted, clear, and grammatically sound. While some editorial support is available, submissions should meet a high standard. We encourage authors to utilize the writing resources provided by us or available online, such as grammar tools, to enhance their work, and they should make their best efforts to refine their manuscripts before submission. While we have a review team to check for grammar, punctuation, and clarity, some authors may want or need to seek a professional editor at their own expense.

  5. Timeliness and Responsiveness: Authors must adhere to submission deadlines and respond promptly to communication from the editorial team, especially regarding revisions or clarifications. Maintain open communication with the editorial team for any revisions or clarifications. This ensures the project progresses smoothly and all contributions are respected.

  6. Engage with Our Anthology Promotional Activities: To ensure the success of the book launch, authors are encouraged to actively participate in promotional activities by sharing, liking, and commenting on each other's content and leveraging their networks to maximize the anthology's impact.  Stay updated and involved with the author community through our designated Facebook Messenger Group. Active participation fosters a supportive environment and strengthens our collective voice.

  7. Help Promote: Actively participate in promotional activities for the anthology to amplify its reach and impact. This includes sharing promotional materials on your social platforms and engaging with potential readers.

  8. Share Respectful and Non-Inflammatory Content: Authors must refrain from inflammatory language or statements that could be considered libelous, including attacking another alienated adult survivor or making derogatory remarks based on gender, race, religion, sexual preferences, political views, etc. The focus should remain on raising awareness about the common good and the invisible abuse of parental alienation. Content not meeting these standards will receive editorial feedback, and necessary adjustments must be made. Non-compliance may result in the removal of the chapter from the anthology.

  9. Commitment to Healing and Empowerment: We expect authors to have made significant progress in their healing journey, allowing them to contribute from a place of resilience and empowerment. Your narrative should offer hope and guidance, encouraging others who may be navigating similar experiences.

SUPPORT FOR AUTHORS

We’re committed to making this anthology a success if not best sellers, so we will be assisting authors every step of the way as much as possible. To ensure we succeed, we will provide some writing club workshops,  guidelines, and/or access to both live and pre-recorded training sessions. These resources are designed to help you, especially if you’re new to publishing, craft your submissions effectively. While we’re here to support you, it’s essential that you take responsibility for completing your work and meeting the anthology's standards.

AUDIOBOOK REQUIREMENTS:

As part of any NAUWOU anthology's, we plan to also produce an audiobook to ensure our stories reach a broader audience. Audible has strict quality standards, so it’s essential that all recordings meet professional standards.

  1. Recording Your Chapter: Authors are encouraged to read their own chapter. However, the recording must be clear, professional, and free of background noise. If you choose this option, please ensure you have access to quality recording equipment, a small and eclosed space (closets make great sound spaces for recording) with no noise like fans, or a professional studio.

  2. Alternative Options:

    • Voiceover Actor: You may hire a professional voiceover actor to read your chapter. This option is ideal if you prefer not to record your voice.
    • AI Voice: You may choose to have the book committee select a gender-appropriate AI voice to narrate your chapter.
    • Voice Cloning: If you prefer, we can use voice cloning technology to create a digital version of your voice to narrate your chapter. Important:  Should you choose this option, the cloned voice will be used strictly for this audiobook and no other purposes. The use of your voice clone will be governed by an agreement that limits its use to this project alone.
  3. Quality Assurance: All recordings will be reviewed to ensure they meet Audible’s strict quality standards. If your recording does not meet these standards, we will work with you to make the necessary improvements.

  4. Submission Guidelines: Please submit your audio recording by the specified deadline. Detailed guidelines on the technical requirements for recording will be provided.

AUTHOR CRITERIA:

Privacy and Fictionalization Clause: Authors agree not to use real names or identifiable details of individuals in their submissions. All characters must be fictionalized to protect privacy. Authors are responsible for ensuring their stories are suitably altered to prevent recognition of real individuals, including changing names, locations, and potentially identifying characteristics.

Indemnity Clause: Authors shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the anthology organizers, publishers, and their respective agents from and against any claims, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to any breach of the author's representations, warranties, or obligations under this agreement, including but not limited to the accuracy of materials submitted and any claim of defamation, invasion of privacy, copyright infringement, or any other cause of action arising from the content of the author's contribution to the anthology.

Right to Remove Contribution Clause: If any author's contribution is found to violate laws, privacy rights, or the anthology's ethical guidelines, we reserve the right to remove the implicated story from the anthology at any stage, without affecting the publication and sale of the rest of the book. This ensures the integrity of the anthology and compliance with legal and privacy standards, safeguarding the interests of all contributing authors and the publishing entity.

COLLABORATIVE vs. PUBLISHING AUTHORS

Collaborative Authors: A collaborative author is an individual who contributes content to a book, typically a chapter or section, as part of a group effort.

Collaborative authors share their unique perspectives, experiences, and expertise on a common theme. In this type of project, all contributing authors work together to create a cohesive anthology. Collaborative authors’ names and headshots are often featured on the back cover of the book or, in some cases, inside the book, depending on the spacial needs of the book.

The collaborative author’s primary role is to provide valuable content and support the collective vision of the book.

Publishing Author(s): The publishing author(s), on the other hand, is responsible for the overall management, organization, and production of the book.

This includes coordinating the contributions of collaborative authors, overseeing the editing and design process, and handling the logistics of publication and distribution.

The publishing author’s name appears on the front cover of the book, as they are accountable for bringing the project to fruition. This role often involves significant risk, time, effort, and financial investment to ensure the book’s success.

PARTICIPATION INFORMATION:

Amendments and Updates: Please be aware that the guidelines, requirements, and code of conduct outlined in this document are subject to change without prior notice. It is the responsibility of each author and speaker to stay informed of any updates or amendments by regularly checking communications from the editorial team.

Authors and speakers may retain services outside of what the NAUWOU team provides, such as professional editors, ghostwriters, speaker coaches, or webinar/live organization support. These additional services will be at the author's or speaker's own expense.

Fees to Participate: To ensure commitment and accountability, we reserve the right to charge a registration fee at any time. While we will strive to keep these costs as low as possible, it is necessary to ensure that all participants are fully committed. For authors, the fee will help cover costs associated with book cultivation, including designs and professional editing. For speakers, this fee may be used to cover costs related to organizing live events and coaching sessions.

We will communicate any changes that may affect timelines, publication dates, or fees through the contact methods provided above.

Revenue Sharing: Please note that there will be no revenue sharing from the sale of the anthology. All proceeds from book sales will be used to further the printing of books for conferences and/or to support the costs associated to continued management of the book series. This ensures that the funds are reinvested into our shared mission of spreading awareness and supporting the community through these events.

CODE OF CONDUCT

We are committed to fostering a supportive and respectful environment for all participants in the anthology series. To ensure a positive and constructive atmosphere, the following Code of Conduct applies to all authors, speakers, and contributors:

Respect for All Participants: We expect all authors to treat one another with respect, regardless of differences in opinions, backgrounds, or experiences. Disagreements are natural, but they must be handled professionally and respectfully.

No Attacks on Adult Survivors: Attacking another adult survivor for any reason is strictly prohibited. This includes any form of harassment, bullying, or personal attacks in public or platform meetings. Disagreements should be expressed in a constructive and non-confrontational manner.

Consequences for Violations: Any author who engages in attacks or inappropriate behavior towards another adult survivor will be removed permanently from the platform and have their chapter removed from the anthology.

Focus on the Common Good: The goal of this anthology is to raise awareness about the invisible abuse of child psychological abuse. All contributions and discussions should focus on this mission and maintain a positive and collaborative tone.

By adhering to this Code of Conduct, we can ensure that our anthology remains a safe and supportive space for all contributors, enabling us to create impactful and meaningful work together.

UNDERSTANDING DIVERSE EXPERIENCES:

It’s important to recognize that while all our contributors share a connection to Parental Alienation (PA) or abduction, their experiences may also encompass other intersecting forms of trauma. We do not dictate how our authors share their lived experiences, but we do ask that they establish a direct connection to PA or abduction at the beginning of their chapter. This ensures that the invisible aspects of CPAPAA are highlighted, even if other forms of abuse are more immediately apparent in their stories.

HEALING AND READINESS TO CONTRIBUTE:

We are committed to creating a safe and empowering environment. Therefore, all contributors are required to have engaged in some form of therapy or self-healing process. This ensures that your message is conveyed from a place of peace, growth, and healing, rather than unresolved anger. Our objective is to provide an inspiring and constructive experience for our audience, focusing on solutions and personal evolution while addressing the challenges of the past.

HOLD HARMLESS AND LEGAL PROVISSIONS:

By agreeing to and participating in this anthology, the author agrees to hold harmless and indemnify the organizers, including Securing Everything LLC, the Thrivers Speak platform, and their representatives (hereinafter referred to as 'Securing Everything et al.'), from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from their participation.

Any legal disputes will be governed by the laws of the State of Florida, with jurisdiction in the courts of Florida.

Parties agree to pursue mediation before any litigation. Should Securing Everything, et al. prevail in any legal action, they shall be entitled to recover attorney’s fees and costs.  If you have any questions, please email us at thriversspeak@gmail.com.

AMENDMENTS AND UPDATES:

Please be aware that the guidelines, requirements, and code of conduct outlined in this document are subject to change without prior notice. It is the responsibility of each author to stay informed of any updates or amendments by regularly checking communications from the NAUWOU Anthology Development team.

We will communicate any changes that may affect timelines and publication dates through the contact methods provided above.

THE SELECTION PROCESS:

Thank you for your interest in participating. Upon submission, you should receive an email copy of your application. We will review all submissions and will contact selected individuals with further instructions as the event date approaches.

Due to limited stage availability, we may need to decline some submissions but will consider holding them for future events. If you do not hear from us, please stay connected for future opportunities. We appreciate your understanding and your dedication to supporting families in high-conflict divorce and custody cases.
