Application Form: Scientific Writing Workshop
The Global Health and Infectious Disease Research Group (AG-AMUASI) at the The Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is offering a 3-day, Continuous Professional Development (CPD)-eligible workshop in “Scientific Writing”. The Scientific Writing workshop is an intensive, three-day, full-time (09.00 to 16.30, Monday-Wednesday) workshop in Scientific Writing for medical, bio-medical and advanced nursing practitioners, graduate students and early-mid career scientists. The workshop covers the basic concepts of scientific writing with special emphasis on proposal development for grant application and manuscript writing for publications. It is designed to equip participants with the fundamental principles and technical know-how to improve their scientific writing for research, academia (post-graduate degree or fellowship dissertation), or career in any health or biomedical field. The workshop combines lectures with case studies and hands-on exercises designed to equip participants with practical and contextual knowledge to significantly improve their scientific writing. Faculty on the workshop have extensive experience locally and internationally in grantsmanship, research and publication, and come from diverse medical, biomedical and related backgrounds.

• Venue: KCCR seminar room, KNUST campus
• Maximum number of participants: Seventy (70)
• Registration opens: Wednesday, August 08, 2018
• Registration closes: Sunday September 02, 2018, 20:00 GMT
• Admission: First-come, first-served basis. Final notice of admission on Tuesday, September 04, 2018
• Acceptance: within 2 days following offer
• Registration fees: GHS 500 (Payable upon admission. Payment instructions will be provided and receipt issued)

Eligibility criteria:
• Be available to participate in the course in its entirety. Partial participation will not be permitted
• Be in possession of a laptop with internet access for use in-class
• Demonstrate that the skills learned will need to be applied immediately or in the very near future as part of
work/education.

Snacks and lunch will be provided, and participants will receive Ghana Medical and Dental Council CPD points (where applicable) and a certificate of completion only after having attended at least 80% of the sessions and completing 100% of the assignments.
