STEP 1 - WATCH
STEP 2 - DESIGN
In the video, Dr. Glen Whitney shows how mosaics can create the illusion of gradation and sharp lines. You can create your own design for a mosaic using these strategies. You can either create a mosaic using found pieces (ex: tiles, cut paper, plastic bottle caps, erasers, sticky notes, etc.) or you can use markers to create a pointillism 2-D representation of a mosaic. Using a marker or color pencil, create a drawing by only stippling dots.
STEP 2 DESIGN - Which option did you try?
Clear selection
STEP 2 DESIGN - What helped the colors blend in your art piece? ex: dots/ pieces closer together, different shaped pieces, etc.
BONUS CHALLENGE
Ask an adult to take a photo or video of your mosaic artwork and email it to info@talkstem.org. We'd love to see your artwork and share through the talkSTEM channels!
